Menorca: Torre d'en Galmés Archaeology

It is the second-largest settlement on the island in terms of its extent. Chronologically, we know that a part of the settlement was active in the pre-talayotic period (before 1500 BC), a factor demonstrated by the remains found in the caves inside the settlement.

The geographical location of this large settlement determines its configuration as a control hub for the territory of much of the island's southern coast. We highlight as the most visible and best-preserved structures the three talayots located on the hill which, together with the sanctuary (taula enclosure), embody the public area of the settlement.
