Talati de Dalt

Menorca: Archaeology Talati de Dalt is a talayotic settlement in the municipality of Maó, located about 3 km to the left on the Maó-Ciutadella road. It is interesting to observe the entrance gate to the settlement, the Talaiot, the rooms attached to the west side, the hypostyle halls (or rooms with columns) that are covered, and the sanctuary with the large central taula. This taula has the peculiarity of having an attached column in a very precarious balance.

It probably fell accidentally. The talaiots and the sanctuary represent the public part of the settlement, while the rest of the buildings represent the private part. These settlements began their activity at the end of the Bronze Age (around 1400 BC) and lasted well into the Roman period.
